Jim Murdoch Oval is the main field at our club, located closest to the clubhouse, gym and can bar.
This field pays tribute to Jim Murdoch, a founding member of our great club, the foundation president and one of our life members. He was a driving force behind the establishment of the club, building Souths Sunnybank from the previous horse paddock it had been to kick things up and running to commence operations in 1967.
This field is our second field further-est from the clubhouse facilities - used for training purposes, trials and gala days.
The field was named after the one and only, Johnathan Thurston in 2014, paying tribute to the Australian, Queensland and Cowboy's play-making career. Now retired, the field played a key part in where he built his love for the game and learnt the basics of Rugby League.
